North West Housing Partnership
Established in 1990, the North West Housing Partnership (NWHP) is dedicated to creating and implementing programs to promote economically diverse housing.
North West Housing Partnership creates and preserves affordable quality diverse housing for low to moderate income residents through renovation, senior assistance, and housing related educational programs.
North West Housing Partnership provides a number of programs and services that are highlighted throughout this website from home rehabilitation, homes for sale to handyman for seniors, home repair for seniors and disabled, and affordable housing for seniors and families. Programs For Homeowners and New Home Buyers

Owner-Occupied Single-Family Rehabilitation
This program helps homeowners correct code violations and address long-overdue repairs that affect the health and safety of residents and their families. The Owner-Occupied Single-Family Rehabilitation program is in cooperation with the communities of Des Plaines and Hoffman Estates. In addition, there are programs funded by the Illinois Housing Development Authority for home modifications for seniors and home and roof repairs for people living in various counties throughout the Chicagoland area.
North West Housing Partnership (NWHP) Single Family Rehab Program
NWHP purchases foreclosed homes to rehab and resell for affordable home buyers throughout Cook County. To date, they have completed over 80 homes.
Affordable Rental Housing for Seniors 55+
NWHP has developed in partnership with several developers, affordable and market-rate rental housing in several communities in the North West suburbs of Chicago. Visit our affordable developments page for additional information on past, current, or new projects.
Handyman and Capable Program for Seniors
NWHP has a “Handyman Program” for those who are 60 years and older and people with disabilities who are 18 or over and in need of simple repairs to their homes. This program is provided by the North West Housing Partnership representing the communities of Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Mount Prospect, Palatine, and Rolling Meadows, Des Plaines, as well as all other towns in Palatine and Wheeling Townships, and Oak Park Township which includes Oak Park and River Forest. In these same communities, NWHP has a unique Aging in Place program called CAPABLE (Community Aging in Place Advancing Better Living for Elders).
